I have a IH 364 and when I raised the rear mount mower it went up fine - but when it stayed in the up position it would jerk up an inch or so without touching the controls? It did this a number of times - last fall it was just fine - all help is welcome..... ..... .

I am not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean that when raised to the high position, it would stop, and then a second later raise an inch higher and then stop there? Or do you mean that when the hitch is in the raised position, it will very slowly fall about an inch, and then jerk back up, and continue repeating the cycle over and over? The first one, I have no idea. The second, your 3pt hydraulic cylinder is leaking past the o-ring and the tractor is compensating by raising it back up. Either the seal needs to be replaced, the cylinder is scored, or the valve has a leak, and it is leaking fluid back into the reservoir.

It will raise to the full position desired but it will jerk up and inch every 3 minutes or so. I don't think it is lowering - I looked but not too good - I have to measure it and see. For the prior two years it worked fine (I have owned it for 2 years)

The lowering is very difficult to notice until you are staring right at it, as it is quite slow. Is it occurring with or without a load on it? Our 806 does it slowly when the fluid is cold, but when the fluid gets warm, it will "jerk" about once a second with a heavy load (like a bale mover with a bale on it). Also, when was the last time the filter and fluid were changed? If it has been more than 2 or 3 years on the oil or 1 year on the filter, I'd start there. If these are not the case, than either you:
a)get used to it and wait until the day that it either won't lift anymore or you can't stand using it in its condition ( my current choice; too many other things to fix with higher priority)
or
b)you look at the cylinder, piston, and the o-rings first and then the valve next; as those are the usual culprits. The parts manual can be of great help in this area, go to the following website for this resource. Click on "right here" and then when the search screen comes up, type in 364. Note that it is very slow on dial-up connections. "http://www.caseih.com/parts/parts.aspx?navid=123&RL=ENNA&partid=481&typeid=157"

it only jerks when I have a load on it. I am going to start with the fluid first - It does not have a filter. Thanks for all your help
