I recall hood differences in past threads during the Farmall H production period. What do I need to be aware/looking for, while shopping for a hood for my "46"? Thanks.

The other guys seemed to pretty well cover it. I would add that my '46 H (distillate, no suffix, hole and tank in place) came to me with a hood that looks to be about 3/4" short, front to back.
So you never know. I think they're like blue jeans and steel-toad shoes - you can't go just by the label, you got to try them on ;-)
Good luck though,
Wm

Some hoods have a extra hole in them on the right side for the filler neck of the small starting tank on kersene models. If your tractor is gas only it will not have this. Lots of the tanks have been taken off as the tractors have been put to gas only now days. If your tractor is gas only there will be X 1 at the end of serial number. A kerosene model will be X 3. That being said the H I have is a 44 model with the hole in the hood for starting tank, but no tank. There is also no suffix of any kind on my serial tag. So I am not sure what the deal is with it.

No suffix was "All-fuel". Distilate, Kerosene, and gas. Sounds like you have an All-fuel, but the tank was removed.

Mike,Thanks for the info. My suffix chart doesn't mention that. The tractor does have a good set of working shutters.

My suffix chart doesn't mention it either and my 44 M is configured like your H.
