560D fast hitch/ hydraulic ??

I initially had the plow hooked up and it would pick it up off the ground....
I then discovered the bottom cylinder bracket ear was broken and welded that.....then I thought I would check the tranny fluid level...
I pulled the squareheaded plug midway on the tractors left side and fluid gushed....about to the tune of 5 or so gallons...I thought this may have been due to water in it because of the color....
Now the fast hitch cylinder only goes up about 3 or 4 inches and the lever is against the stop...I even added most of the oil I drained out ex for some that spilled..and when I was filling it it spit fluid drops out the filler...

Does it need more fluid??
....air in the cylinder??
need a filter change??
Any adjustments to make??

The pump does whine a slight bit and didnt seem to do that before messing with the fluids...

Any help would be appreciated..
I did a search but couldnt find anything specific to my ailment...I only messed with letter series tractors ( small scale farm) before and want to get to work asap with the 560...thanks

My advice would be change hydraulic oil and filter, and make sure you use Hytran or equivilant. 460 and 560 were very sensitive to wrong oil. These were the first tractors IH used a hydraulic filter rather than a screen, thus that oil must be correct.

A good working hydraulic system will eliminate any air with use. A plugged or poor flow hydraulic filter with make toast of a hydraulic pump in less than 5 minutes. The filter is on suction side and a hydraulic pump without oil will last almost as long as engine with no crankcase oil.

I suspect your pump is toast, but try the oil and filter first.

Then I unhooked the linkage that runs from the fh cylinder to the control valve under the dash....(is this called the tele- depth rod??)...and now the hitch works fine with a combo of manually running the valve lever from cylinder and using the regular control lever...kinda play with one then the other....

Doing that I can back into the plows and raise them up fine for transport....
But I need it to work right for plowing...

I plan to change fluid/filter in a few weeks...does Napa carry them or IH dealer ??

Also what is the function of the notched lever with handle on the left side of the platform going to the hitch??

George is right, either the pump is sucking air, or it is being captivated (sp) due to a clogged filter. It needs to be addressed ASAP.
