I know that this is too new to be an antique, but I thought that someone reading this may have the answer that I'm looking for. I bought this tractor this weekend. No operators manual with it. One is on order but it will be 10-14 days. What is the engine oil recommendation for this diesel engine? How many quarts does it use? I use Shell 15-40 in my other tractors. Thanks for your help, Tom

Hi, the engine is a 3.9 liters, turbo, some with after-cooler. With 10 liters, with the filter, you can change the oil. Check for the hydrolic filter change too, if you not sure for the hours. It's a good tractor to work with. Bernard le mécano, Québec Canada

I am not sure about the oil capacity, but the old D239 holds 9 quarts. And as stated any good engine oil for diesel engines will be fine including the Rotella 15w40

Hi Tom, I looked the 5120 on tractor data and it says it has DT239 77HP. My brother has 684 with non turbo D239 and he was using Shell Rotella 15-40 and Shell dealer sold out now he uses EXXON HD 15-40.

The 5120 has a cummings 4 cylinder diesel in it. The 684 is the german made diesel. Totally differant engines but both are execellent engines.
