It depends on what diesel engine the 706 has in it. If it has the D282 it is not too bad a job. The exhaust is on the other side of the hood and you will need throttle linkage and air cleaner parts. If it has the D310, then there are a lot of things that will be different.

Yes, but you need more than just the engine to make it fit.

You need the front engine plate, rear engine plate, both side rails (they're longer on the gas version), radiator (outlet on the bottom is on the opposite side), and countless other piddly parts to make it "right." Otherwise, it's a cob-job.

Putting a gas engine in a diesel is a pretty dumb move, IMHO. The gas engine burns 2-3 times as much fuel, doesn't have nearly as much torque, and you'll be lucky to get 2500 hours out of a freshly rebuilt engine. Any junkyard gasser you put in that tractor will need rebuilding in short order.

Unless your diesel engine is damaged beyond repair AND you have a known-good gas engine to install, don't bother even trying. Rebuild the diesel.

Even if it did it would take a lot of work to get all of the systems switched over from gas to diesel. There should be a good gas engine in a salvage yard that will cause you a lot fewer headaches down the road. Just my $0.02 worth.
