So what do you guys dig? Do you prefer a Fast Hitch or 3pt for everyday use?

Is it worth going the extra effort to convert everything over with Fast Hitch forks or to just go with a 3pt? Is stuff actually still available for the IH Fast Hitch sytem?

Just curious here, I'm actually thinking of going 100% fast hitch on one of my tractors.

Unless you have a barn full of fast hitch stuff, I'd say 3 pt. They haven't made a fast hitch implement since when?

If you're talking about a factory fast hitch versus an AFTERMARKET 3pt, the fast hitch wins hands down.

The aftermarket 3pt hitch is very limited in usefulness, as in you can't use it with hard-pulling equipment that requires draft control, such as a land plow. It puts stresses on places that weren't designed to take those stresses, so you need to be careful. Items like mowers, back blades, bale spears, post hole diggers, etc. can be used, but don't expect to be able to plow.

I plow with my M just fine with a three point hitch. It's a lot harder to find fast hitch implements than three point, I can use any brand.

Myself, I prefer the fast hitch. Most implements that are available are old used ones, and some can be a little hard to track down. There are some companies that do make things such as grader blades for them, but not many. I saw a brand new blade at a sale last year. It was yellow, but I don't know the brand. I do know that Bushhog use to make mounted mowers for the fast hitch. I do have some implements that are quite heavy, but work good. Two of my tractors have top link brackets and can use 3 poit implements on those as well as 2 point. I use my fast hitch stuff for every kind of farm work, but I already have lots of IH fast hitch implements.

We have an 806 with fast hitch. What we like about it is lifting an implement off the ground with the drawbar. Also we have fast hitch arms that go over the 3 point pins on an implement, so can pretty much use any 3 point machine on the fast hitch. But in reality I don't see any advantage and use the 3 point hitch tractors for the implements most of the time.

Pat,

The two point hitches outgrew themselves very early on because they were limited in the amount of weight that they could handle.

Not in the tractor hitch itself, but rather in the amount of reinforcement needed at the implement hitch.

Unless one of your Ms is a Super MTA a fast hitch will be quite difficult to add. The rear end is not set up for these.
