The H I just bought is missing the magneto/distributor. Were H's available with either magneto or distributor in 1939? Or were they magneto only? Should I go back with a magneto or distributor? Thanks

The early mags are the same as later ones the cable and slide sw will mount on any of the mags as they all have the holes drilled and tapped the cable sw was for the ones without a starter. if you need the cable sw i have one.

Randy are those early h-4 mags with the cable as hard to find as the '39 style seats? Tom

like gene said the h-4 is an h-4, it is the pot metal piece that goes on the magneto with the slide in it that is kind of hard to find.

Most likely came with a magneto, and that would be my choice regardless of what it came with. I love my magneto tractors because it doesn't matter if the battery is dead, I can still work!

farmallmagneto.com has good prices on rebuilt mags.

Most likely came with a mag unless it was a special order with a dist. If you need a mag I have one but it needs points to get it up and working again. E-mial is open

Your 39 H originally used a magneto, you can still use a bistributor, but you need battery and hookup for the distributor. I recommend using a magneto. Andy.
