I'm in the process of restoring an old 1066 and was thinking about converting it to 4WD. I have the name of a company that used to make these kits named elwood but I haven't found anything on them except they went out of business. Does anyone any suggestions about how I should go about this? Maybe going out and getting stock parts off salvaged tractors or is there somewhere else aftermarket to look? Any help would be appreciated!!

Did I.H. ever offer a 806D with factory MFD? There was one in the Herscher, Ill. area. It had a chrome plate stamped 4 wheel drive as I remeber it and huge rear tires. I think it is still around. (The chrome piece may not have been word for word as I have stated. Armand

There were two companies that made axles for these conversions, Elwood, and Coleman. Both companies are either out of business, or not involved in making axles for 30-year-old tractors.

Your best bet will be salvage parts.

If you're good at fabricating, you can adapt a heavy truck axle, but it's a lot of work figuring out the ratios and getting the driveline working.

Your best bet will be salvage parts. Definitely.

Any idea on how difficult it may be to get these parts salvage?
