What is the main difference between the cultivators on a regualar low Farmall such as a 140 and its hi crop counterparts. Are these hi crop cultivators have any extensions on them. I have one without cultivators and just trying to see if regular ones will fit. It seems like they will fit, but i am wondering if they will be too short.

Interesting question.

I dont think the 144 cultivators for a Super A or 140 will work on an AV. I have the 144 manual and it doesnt mention anything about an AV. If you go to binder books it shows a AV-144 cultivator manual. Must be differant.

As I recall, the universal mounting frames on the front have a drop built into them. The brackets that bolt to the final drive housings also have a built in drop. Rear pressure rods are porbably longer too.

The tool bars and standards may be the same.

Johnny, I am not sure, but would assume they are different. That being said there is two sizes of shanks short and long. The short ones are on regular 140 cultivators, so it may work with the longer ones. The Cs and 200 and so on use the longer ones.

Do you reckon it would be possible to lower the mounting arms by lengthing the top bars that are connected to the front rockshafts? This would compensate some for the shorter shanks.

It may, I haven't seen enough HI Clear models to really know much about them. There are lots of 140 here around home, but almost no Hi Clear models. I was high bidder on one of the very last 140 Hi Clearance tractors at a sale a few years ago, but the owner didn't let me have for 1000 dollars. It did have cultivators on it, but I don't know how much if any difference there were in them.
