I'm sorry to hear about your husband, Linda.

Problems with loss of power after warm-up often come from one of two areas: (a) insufficient fuel flow (fuel flow has time to catch up when tractor shut off, so runs well from start), and (b) expansion due to heat causing an electrical component to fail.

I like to start with fuel flow first, because it's easiest to check. Turn on the gas at the cut-off and pull the drain plug on the bottom of the carburetor, if your M has one. You should have a good, steady flow about the diameter of the fuel line. A trickle may not be good enough.

In this case, since the problem is intermittent, you may want to run a full tank though, to give the problem a chance to occur. Make sure and catch the gasoline in a sutiable container for re-use (USD 2.79 locally!).

If there is water in the system, it usually comes out first. Obviously, in that case, the gasoline itself is suspect.

Fuel flow not ok? Check sediment bowl and tank for crud and rust (you'll want a gasket handy for replacing the bowl). It may be necessary to remove and clean any screens in the tank or carb. More detailed instructions can be provided in the event this is necessary.

Fuel flow ok? Check back in with us.

Good luck and keep us posted. Model M can be very troublefree and I believe there may be several thousand of them still running.
