hello, thank for the replies yesterday. i pulled the tractor and it started fine. buttttt when i went start it to day it cranked but no go, wore my battery dead. some dubm things i have done that mite have caused this: left the on switch on for two days, jumped 12 volts directly to 6 volt battery, and run 12 volts on the 6 volts system. dont know if any of that helps. also my battery dosent crank very fast so that may do it to. any help would be great.

you are very lucky that hooking the 12v to the 6v system didnt blow the battery.

NEVER EVER hook a 12 volt battery to a 6 volt battery when you do that you can casue the 6 volt battery to explode in your fase. Since you left the switch on most likely you burned the points and maybe even burned out the coil. I would replace the points and go from there

Absolutely. At least EXAMINE the points; I think you'll find them obviously degraded.

It is certainly to be hoped the switch was not left on at the SAME TIME the twelve volt battery was hooked up!

Charge the battery with a 6v charger overnight.
Then try to start it in the AM. W/O jumping it. JimN
