I'm about to set out and change the oil in the diff. How much oil is in that thing? I just pulled out 6 gallons (looked like chocolate milk)but I'm not sure how much is actually supposed to go back in.

1942 Model M

Thanks for your help...

That's Right. It took right about 13 gallons for the whole job.

Thanks again everybody for the replies.

It was nice to know that I could fill the tranny and diff at the same time - through the big hole on top of the diff and not through the tranny plug. Got out my trusty electric pump and emptied the 3 buckets in about 15 minutes.

Good Gawd George,

Don't think I could squeeze 20 gallons in my 966. :>)

I don't know sometimes the wrong stuff just comes out. My 666 only holds 16 gallons. I should have said 13 gallons. I was going to really filler up wasn't I?

And one more question while I'm at it - do the tranny and the diff have the same oil compartment? I've drained the tranny fluid as well from the small plug that is underneath. So if I fill the tranny am I also filling the differential? Or are they separate compartments? How much goes in each?

As always, thanks for the replies...
