I need some help I'm over here in SC at my son's
We looked at a 200 today that has a center mount factory grader blade made by IH like we have been talking about and like the one I made but this is IH and doesn't mount to the cultivator frame. I don't have my book with me and I'm woundering the year of the ragged out wide front 200 the only numbers readable on the plate are 1087 J then next line 1815 Thanls for the help

George. When did IH start using the J in serial numbers to denote Rockford clutches? David.

I am not sure. Not to be sarcastic but I would guess when they started using Rockford clutches. My book gives the J for everything from A,B,C,M and so on. I have a 1953 Super C that has the J serial suffix. Out of the 7 that I use it is the only one with a J on it. I do have a couple of junkers that have it also. Maybe D Slater or someone else will know.

Dave: Rockford clutch was introduced about mid 1953. My Super A, serial number 336977 did not have it, but it occured less than 25 tractors after mine. Super C was done about same time. I do not have the info for H and M, however, all 00 series tractors had Rockford clutches.

Most replacment clutches, for all IH tractors back to 39 have been Rockford. I know when I replaced the clutch in my Super A, mid 90s,dealer partsman told me he hadn't stocked anything but Rockford since the late 60s.

George: No, I've been getting some adds out online here tonight. We really don't need a 2,300 sq ft house anymore thus we are moving to a smaller place. I've just got too much to move with me, and there is some of this I haven't used in years. Some of it's got to go.

It's been quite cozy up here the last two weeks, soil has reached 55 degrees at 4" depth, planting is in full swing. Kent and Essex Counties have been planting close to 3 weeks now. Marg. and I came back from Toronto today, she wanted to stop at grocery before going home. I shut the car off with windows down. I had planned on waiting in the car. I didn't stay there, too damn hot. We have those enviormental do gooders around here that walk parking lots giving folks lectures on running a/c. There was a nice shaded area near the entrance, with park type benches, thus I parked myself there and watched the summer dressed ladies going to and from. Not bad work.

Hi Hugh. Yup, that is some of life"s most enjoyable work. Thursday I was admiring spring around the UW-La Crosse campus-female joggers, female roller bladers, female walkers, and oh yea...the flowers in bloom.

Hugh, we have a few do gooders here sometimes. One bunch from Kansas I believe have been coming here and protesting our dead soldiers funerals. They claim to be Christians mind you. I find this outrageous. They protested a funeral in the next county over and some of them got there a$$ whipped while the local sheriff watched. That is what happens in the mountains of Ky. I lived in Virginia one fall and winter and do gooders were protesting hunters, following them around in the woods molesting their hunt. Myself I would be tempted to shoot them. That moving is a pain. My house burned 6 years ago and we moved to the other farm, even though we lost nearly all of our household stuff it was quite a chore.

Yup goerge. I feel that is what separates the more modern countries from th less modern. Our military personnel does what they are told to (for the most part). There are few defectors even if they dont agree with the mission. I feel that is why many countris have so many coups and corruptions. Their miltary sides with whoever they want whenever they want and have not loyalty to the current statehood.

I stand behind our soliders 100%. Maybe not for what they are doing, but for why they are doing it, because it was asked of them. You dont have to stand behind our president, but the military is just taking orders. If you have beef, its with the one who gave those orders...

Good for him! I think that sheriff should be re-elected for life! If you can"t stand behind our soldiers, would you please stand in front of them - not this authors quote, but a goodie. Next Saturday, May 19 is Armed Forces Day-US.

1087 is very early 1955, serial numbers for 1954, the first "year" of production were 501-1031. 1815 is the full throttle, no load idle rpm.
