hi all, have a td18a i'm having trougble with the diesel side. this thing sat for about 3 years. got it running on gas and went to switch over to diesel and it died. i filled the primer (i think) on the back of the injection pump and finally got fuel to come out of the back three lines but nothing on the front three. sometimes i can get a little seep to come from the front line on the pump but not very often. any suggestions on why? someone told me to change oil in the pump. did not know the injection pump had oil in.
thanks
Gary

more then likely one of the two plungers is stuck as that pump has dual plungers and yes you must KEEP oil in the pump crankcase same oil as the engine and it is to be changed at every oil change . It is best to have that pump gone thru by a pump shop that knowes them old pumps as not only a stuck plunger but the cam bushing maybe wore out and to set the selivery on that pump it must be done on a test stand. Even though i can work on one i will not do it unless i have accsess to a stand .

We have owned an 18A. When we got it it was also not running. If after repeated starts, or if you can recatch it and keep it running on gas while switching back and forth, it still will not provide fuel to 3 cylinders, the pump will need to be taken apart and cleaned/freed up. The owners, repair, and blue ribbon manual are good things to have, as is a clean location with good light. They aren't complex, just precise. That Dozer will do many great tasks while wearing you out. JimN
