I looked and it is for the throttle. It mounts under the hood with a linkage going from throttle lever to it, and one going from it to the governor.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

So it goes from the throttle to the govenor, and its a funky thing that could be L shaped... (I get what you mean, it makes sense to me now)

But why would I use it for anything? I dont think the M I have now has one of these, does it?

Of course it does. It is right above the valve cover. Without it you couldn't give your tractor any gas.

Ahh, OK.

I just havent seen it on my tractor yet, which would explain why it seemed strange to me.

Sorry for the ignorance, Ill just check it out once I can actually check out my tractor again. This whole different states thing is probably the source of 50% of my questions....

Thanks for putting up with them all!

A bellcrank is any lever system that has a single pivot point, and two levers sticking out from it. Usually they are not across from oneanother. They change the direction of linear motion. Some ora mounted on a shaft or tube and also displace the force along the shank to offset the force. A capital L with a pivot at the bottom left would be an example of the shape. radiator shutter linkage, throttle linkage, and other places have them on an M JimN
