Did any F12 or 14's have a road gear? If not, what does it take to add one?

Glenn

Okay so I was wrong, I have never heard or read anything about their own higher gears availible in the transmission.

Ya thats not all that great by todays standards, I mean they were doing more than twice that 20 years later. But 10 miles an hour is not that bad for the 1930s.

Either way I'd say unless you find a parts one for a steal it is going cost big bucks.

What JJ said. Behlen made one, I've seen them go for north of $700. Heisler was another brand, if I recall correctly. Either is a pretty rare bird.

They did not come with a road gear that was inside the transmission. You could get an aftermarket option of a road gear that actually mounts on the front of the transmission and connects to the drivetrain coming from the bellhousing.

To add one it takes a little time and alot of money after you manage to find one, unless you get one dirt cheap.

Yeah they did JJ, Maybe not what we could consider fast by today's standards but there was an optional 6.6 MPH or 9.58 3rd gear. The transmissions are coded on the rear of the housing.
