I think you are right about the tooth angle on the 560 i boulted it in but the axel would not turn was the same tooth count everything else measured out right but just would not turn!!!! So I think I will try the 400 tommarrow and see what happends. Thanks for the info.

If the six digit number on bull gear hub starts with 374 its the wrong one for your M.

It's a 1950 M the one out of the 560 starts with 574 but I no for sure that one will not work.Do to trial and era. I am going to try the 400 bull gear today. I no the one out of the w6 would work but that tractor is still together The other ones are laying around in piles waiting to take the slow boat to china. thanks

Notice today I told you wrong on the later or updated 560 gear #. I put down to look on hub for #. I should have said look on gear itself for number 374579 R1 stamped in. The hub could have the same # as a 400. You can find 3 or 4 different hub numbers for your 50 model up to 560. They will all interchange except the increased angle 560 gear. Regaurdless of the numbers if you compare the gears side by side and look close, the updated or standard gear for later 560 the tooth will be little wider at bottom and a little narrower at top compared to your M. Good luck and sorry for the wrong info.

I see what you mean by the teeth being wider on the 560. Just going outside to but the 400 one in hope the rain holds off long enough to get it done. Thanks again

Happen to think. What year is your M? I'm thinking real early M used a little different bull gear also, but can't remember for sure. Maybe I can look it up tomorrow.

I wouldn't bet on the 560 working. It would bolt in but some if not the biggest part of them have a different tooth angle than a M or 400.

Upgrading the rear end of an M with 560 parts where they fit is a good idea if you have the time to do it while it's opened up.
