I was wondering how many F-12 are owned by you guys. What year and fuel type? Do you still work with it?

I have a 37 F-12. Dad bought it in '69 for $50 to use around his woods cottage. Pulled logs, dug trenches, pulled a trailer full of us kids. Kinda went by the wayside in the late 70's when the Jubilee came along. Needed a bunch of things done, but didn't have a place to work on it. Brought it home about 5 years ago. New rings, manifold, mag rebuild, head rebuild, flushed out all the fluids, new tires in front, and later (thru the brave efforts of a parts tractor) have new rubber on the rear. Gave it a 50' paint job (looks great at 50'. Starts on the first or second quarter turn of the crank..... every time. Doesn't do much work, but the kids have fun with it in the neighborhood and at the local tractor show in the summer. Dad also loves to drive it during the show.

Although no photos were taken, Dad, while crossing a mucky bottomed creek in the mid-70's, burried that tractor so deep the fan was churning water and his butt was getting wet sitting down on the seat. Took a whole day of digging and pulling, as it was the biggest thing in the area that day. It got out of the creek, splashed it with a couple buckets of water, and off to work it went !

I have a 34 with a singel front cutoff wheel and right now it has rear steel which will soon be replaced with rubber. It is not doing any work for the time being, I just drive it around a little ever once in a while. But that F-12 was roaring pretty dang loud for its size when I had it on the dyno. It was louder than most of the diesels that were up at school.

Hey JJ, What HP did it put out? I did a test with mine on a dyno a few years ago and posted the results on here. Test was what fuel would put out more power. It made 13.5HP on kero and gas off the PTO. No difference. Boy she really made the racket so I know what you are talking about.

The old F-12 put out 15.6 hp on the dyno. I had it on there for a little under an hour to break it in after the rebuild. That tractor was really shaking the dyno. I had to tape the pressurizer thingy in place because it kept rattling out.

I only tested it on gasoline because the valve on the starting tank of my F-12 no longer seals so the fuel frim the main tank fills up the starting tank as well.

I've got a '34 F-12 with cutoffs and a single front wheel. I use it to dig potatoes every year which really makes it "snort" when you drop that big digger blade into the ground. The Grandkids get a big kick out of it and say they love the sound. We've also got two F-20's, F-30, 10-20, and a 22-36. Everything is on rubber except the 10-20. I'm 71 years old and favor those old girls because that's what I grew up on.

1938 F-14.

A couple of updates since this picture was taken.

Found a decent reproduction steering wheel for it.

Finally found the remnants of a pair of fenders for it, which are being repaired before installation.

Also found parts to put electric start on it. Not original (who has that kind of cash?) but a reasonable facsimile built by a machine shop. I'll get around to putting that on after I get the fenders done.

It's mostly a toy, altho not a "wax and buff trailer queen". It gets used for what little drawbar work I do, hauling trailers mostly, and maybe a little discing occasionally.

Still looking for a single bottom trailer plow for it.

Am in process of putting cultivators on it been 50 yrs so it is slow. My dad bought his f12 to replace a team of mules & i never once heard him say he wanted the mules back even when 12 was hard to crank. Some of you have already been a help to me on this Forum THANKS

Got a '37 all fuel on steel, ran last year, stuck right now. Just pushed it in shed to restore. Used to use it every year to plow. Ran it on gas.

A blueberry farmer in SW Michigan bought it from me to add to his flourishing crop of F-series. I did see one with either a 300 Ford or 292 Chevy pulling a while back!

If I had one I would be ashamed to tell anyone. The F-20 was a wondeful tractor, but a team of horses was superior to the F-12.
