I think I over grease the trow bearing on my 1948 Cub, now the clutch is splitting. Is that graphite bearing really need grease? I will split the tractor and clean the grease. Last year I ajusted the pressure plate and the clutch was not half worn and only used the tractor maybe 10 hours since then.

yes you need to grease the throwout bearing, but only once a year or so for normal use. it is lubricated by the oil separating from the wax base and soaking into the graphite form the rear. Do not use high temp grease on it.

If your clutch is coming apart, it may be from lack of use. Sometimes the metal will rust to the clutch facings and the clutch will be damaged when you force them apart.

Graphite bearings take no grease.

Lucien: Time you had or read the manual, not all grease zerks on those tractors need to be greased every 10 hours. Clutch release bearing is every 150 hours. Distributor drive every 500 hours. steering, rockshafts and pedals are 10 hours. Wide variety of time frames, and I bet there are things you overlook.
