Hi,This F20 is my first binder. I’ve had a bunch of green tractors and several others, but this has me wondering. I’ve got a 36 F20 (note the gray showing under red) with the eng number matching the tractor serial number. It had been sitting for many years, but this year I brought her east and got her going. It belonged to my brother for years, but he bought it sitting, and never tried to get it going. I probably sat for 10-15 years, maybe more. I had to do the normal stuff to get her running, and it has done surprisingly well. I used to plant a few acres of corn and watermelon this year as well as pulling some huge oak logs. The gentlemen my brother got the tractor from had used for fairgrounds tractor pulling at one time, and it has electric start, generator, Heisler OD, Heisler manifold, and a variable speed governor. I think it has an oversize cylinder bore kit, and also been converted to a v-fan belt. My questions is as follows: I found about a 5/16in hole drilled into a boss in the block with a small stick carved to fit it fairly tightly (bet it was tighter years ago). The hole is not threaded and is about the same height as the camshaft bushing lock screw boss. The hole is located right behind the governor. What is it for? Was someone going to give the old girl top end oiling? I’ve got it down for additional cleaning, pan and governor gaskets, and to pull the OD for replacement of seals. I’m tempted to pull the plug out next time I have it running to see what happens! If it is something I need to fix, it would be easier to take it down and fix it with it torn down to this point. Can anyone tell me the story? Should I plug it with JB weld? I’m really starting to like this stout simple old working girl. There is a picture in the tractor photos portion of the site.
