The pulley and impeller look to be a pressed fit on my SC's water pump. The impeller looks like it would be a real bear to get off. Can I remove the pulley & slide everything out the other side (impeller attached)? I just want to clean things up a little. Also, I don't have a press. What is the proper way to re-install the pulley?

Thanks

Thanks Hugh, Makes a lot of sense. I didnt take it apart, or beat on it or anything like that. I had it off & was just inspecting, so - new gasket and back on she goes! (it was pumping fine)

Doug: Real bear is the proper discription, probably 3 bears. If the water pump ain't broke, don't fix it, don't even take it apart. When it quits working most likely from coolant running out along the shaft, just take the pump off and go right down to your CaseIH dealer and trade it for a rebuilt pump complete with pulley. Believe me it is the most economical way out.

If you don't touch it, may work another ten years. If you take it apart, I can gaurentee you will be buying a pump, and CaseIH will not give you full core price for broken pieces.
