Going to aquire my first Farmall this weekend. Seems to be a pretty complete, straight '52 M. What would be a fair price for a wide front end? Are there several different models/manufacturers that would fit an M? Thanks.

I've heard that a wide front end for a M is interchangeable with a wide front end from an H.
Not positive, but an old restorer told me this.
Hope this helps....

The front end off of a 560 or 706 is a better choice for a working tractor than the original. To use these the hubs will also have to be changed. A Schwartz is also a good choice.

I recently bought a schwartz wide front off a 460 (460 thourgh a 706 use the same wide front)for my super M, I left the hubs on the wide front because they are a heavy duty hub, the wide front I bought came complete with front wheels and tires. If you want to use your current wheels you will have to change the hubs. I did have to buy a different sivel rear mount that was $70. The Wide front used costed be $450. For a new to Schwarts wide front is about $700 to 750.

There are at least 2 different makers of WFE's for an M, one is O.E. I-H, the other is Schwartz, if originality is Your goal be prepaired to pay out big $ for the I-H WFE, if You are willing to settle for aftermarket the Schwartz may be a good choice, I have one of these on a Super M-TA with a 2001 loader and it has served me very well. You might try contacting Bates corp. about these items or Red power magazine, You will like the M, it is a wonderful tractor!
