My 756 gasser is leaking oil where the boot is on the rod that engages the PTO.
Sitting in the seat the rod is on my left and behind the seat.
What am I looking at here as to what is leaking--O-RINGS seals etc.
Thanks for any help.

It's a seal , but be warned that when ya remove the big square nut on top this is what sets your PTO engagement pressures and if ya don't have the PROPPER fitting to put a gauge on it to reset and get it wright you will either eat the clutch pac out of it or if ya get it to high then blow the snapring out of the clutch pac. PTO pressure where i like to set them on the 706-756 is wright about 245 lbs. this will insure that ya NEVER slip the clutch pac .

Hello vet good to hear from you. Thought you might be out in the hayfield unti later.
Where does a fella hook up the pressure gage??
Is the seal down in there very far or easy to see??
I have the IT manual and another book with the tractor.
It just started leaking--from dry to leaking all of a sudden.
I was running the Bush Hog a few days ago and ran it over a pile of clay where it scalped the ground real hard and the PTO stopped for an instance. Do you think it slipped the disc or maybe a lowoil pressure.
Ran it for a couple more hours with regular cutting and there wasn't any MORE PROBLEMS.
Thanks for the help and I also enjoy your writings about stuff you do around your home and in the field and also your ole trucking days.

That seal is wright at the top and can be removed and replaced with out droppen the whole valve out the bottom , But like i said when ya remove the top off the stem ya have to reset the pressure and ya need the special fitting to install in the test port on the side . Now i know that one of the exprets will say that ya don't need this special fitting But ya do as it is a stright thread and also has a o/ring seal and a drilled orface . you screw valve stem into the nut increase the pressure while ya have the PTO ingauged . And yes if it stopped then she did indeed slip thru the clutch pack. If ya check pressure before ya do anything you may find that you are below 210 lbs and at that it can slip under a hard load.

Thanks Vet for the info. The book says 175 to 185 but I know you said you like to jack them up a bit higher for best results. When I get a gage I will use your figure.
Are you saying the gage has to have an O ring on it so as not to leak??
Again thanks for your time.

Yes also it is a stright thread and somewhere back i posted the I H part number as you can order this test fitting and ya need a good gauge that will read 600lbs . I have the # wrote down someplace. but i think that you can find it in the arcives . If not i'll try and dig it up that way you can just order it from the local dealer BUT DON'T tell them what it is just order it by part #.

The fitting you need is the orifice fitting used for metering the lube to the regular duty belt pulley assembly. The part number is 384328R1.
