Can anyone tell me the procedure for removing the drive shaft coupling seal on my farmall h transmission. I want to replace the seal and the bearing but looks like I may have to remove the drive shaft to get the coupling off the transmission . Would I be possible to put a sealed bearing in . THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

That was one of the first things I did on my 49 H when I bought it. Replaced all the leaking seals on the tranny, pto & bellypump.
Just pay attention to how the arms are attached, and I also replaced the rubber grommets on mine.
This was all with help from my neighbor, since this was my first time wworking on a tractor.

I always use a six point socket on a breaker bar with a tapered pry bar stuck up through the flange to get those tapered bolts to crack loose.

The first thing you will need is a good air mattress because you will be spending some time on your back. The second thing is a good trouble light with a guard on it so it won't burn a hole in your air cushion. (don't ask) :-) My Grandson got a new one out of the deal. The bolts in the coupling can be a real bear. Don't use a hammer on them. I don't think you need a sealed bearing because that bearing is well lubed from the transmission, and you still will need the new seal. ken
