Does anyone know where I can find new dot head bolts for my super h. I started restoring it and found out that the square head bolts for the rim clamps are beyond salvage and and the bolts for the clamp to axle are shot. I was also missing a few others. If know when carries them, would a machine shop be able to make them. Thanks for any help you can provide. Thanks again.

I have purchased square head bolts from McMaster-Carr. They seem to have everything.

A place called Mark's Tractors can have them made, along with OEM Tractor Parts, mentioned below. They are expensive. Machine shop cost would probably be prohibitive. Square head bolts without the dot are available. Not being a total purist, on my tractors you will find a mixture of dot head and cadmium plated bolts. A few cadmium plated ones, in the right places do not look gaudy, and don't have to be painted. My Super H has cadmium plated hex head bolts on the rim clamps. To me they look better than the painted dot head ones, as long as they are not used everywhere.

I searched everywhere in the Charlotte NC area for the square head bolts for my wheels. I could not find any anywhere...finally found 2 in some dead inventory. Good luck on this. tw

If you have access to a lathe or vertical milling machine (Bridgeport, for example), you should be able to make the dots at the rate of 2 or 3 per minute. Modify an endmill with a grinding stone.

I would prefer a lathe because you will also want to chamfer the edges after making the cut with the endmill.

This would be a good job for a local voke school. You could also enroll for a night course and do it yourself.

The only problem with that is finding bolts with the thicker head to make them from. The original dot head bolts had a much thicker head than the bolts you get now.

Do you have access to a lathe, or have one yourself? I used to make my own all the time, just face off .005 to .010" and leave the center dot.

There are used ones on ebay all the time. Also visit your local tractor salvage yards as they have buckets of bolts from disassembling tractors.

Fstenal carries the square head bolts but they arent dot head. But you can use some JB weld and add a little dot of make them look correct. I have done that with hex head too a few times.

Another poster mentioned OEM. They still had the dot head for the front wheels but they quit stocking the dot head bolts in most sizes.

There's a dealer in se PA that has the long head bolts and they're $12.70 each. He may be able to
get the short bolts. You can call them at 1-800-732-0017 and ask for farm tractor parts. Hal

Have you tried your local Case/IH dealer? You may be able to get grade 8 cap screws of the correct length for the head. You should call Rice Equipment Inc in western PA at 814-227-9200.
They may have what you need. Call 1-800-547-6758 to see if they have the square head bolts. Hal
