We are still trying to identify our tractor. Found stamping that said 1949 A but can't find where the A was made in 1949-only has serial numbers thru 1947. Help What is it? Would it be Super A? Thanks- He doesn't use computer so I try to find out for Him.

On the flat machined surface the numbers are FAB1C3C7. By the #1 plug the numbers are 6342DD with a 2 under that. On the seat bracket is US Pat no. 2,470,907. Made in Canada is also on the seat bracket. I can find no numbers like these in serial number listings

That 6342DD is the head PN. You need to look on the block just below the head for a flat machined
surface. Hal

6342DD is the block PN, not the head. Could "FAB1C3C7" really be "FABM 10307"? If so, the engine at least is 1940 Farmall B.

Where did you find a stamp that says 1949 A? I don't know of any such marking on tractors. The serial number should be on a tag rivited to the left seat support. Is the front axle round or square? Are their braces from the front axle to the frame/engine? All of these clues will help us tell you what tractor you have. Posting a picture would help even more. Dave

Does the tractor have hydraulics? The Super A did
and the serial numbers for them started at 250001.
The engine may have been replaced if it's an A.
Look aroud the seat bracket for the SN. Hal
PS: There's a flat spot on the engine block beneath the No1 sparkplug that should have a number. It may be covered with dirt or heavy paint.

If it has hydraulics it is likely a Super A. They were built in Louisville. There should be a serial number on the tag under the seat. If you post that we could tell for sure what it is. If there isn't a tag the number will be on the right side of engine near the number one plug on a flat machined surface.

1949 would make it a Super A. It would help to post the serial number to be sure it is a 49.
