will a 1953 Suepr A except the bigger pistons like a Super C over bore kit. I think 3 1/4" compared to the A and B that can only take the 3 1/8" with out machineing the block. Alos does the Super A have any diffrence in stock power that is noticable from the A and B. will there be any diffrence that i can notice?

Thanks for the help Andrew

Andrew: If your 53 Super A has block part number 354898 R1, which it should have to be original. That is the same block as SC and it will accept 3-1/8" sleeves and pistons without modification. You can even install 3-1/4" sleeves and pistons.

After serial number 310300 on SA and all SC used that same block. The 3" bore was retained on the SA by using thicker wall sleeves. I expect it was more economical for IH to produce different sleeves and pistons than cast two separate blocks. By 1954 and serial number 356001, IH had upgraded a few items on the SA power train, and from there on SA became known as SA1 with C-123 engine, water pump and larger radiator. Some of those power train upgrades included Rockford clutch, heavier final drives with different brakes.
