I have the battery wire on the alt. going to the + side of the amp gauge. Then I have the - side going to the starter. I have the fuse wire going from the - side of the amp gauge to the key switch to make it hot. Then I have the #1 wire off of the alt. going to the ignition side of the key switch. On the ignition side of the switch, I have it going to the coil. I have hot wire going off the key switch to the light switch. Does this sound like it is wired right? I have looked at the diagrams but can't tell much about them. Any help is appreciated. It is 12 volt - ground.

There should be ONLY ONE WIRE on the SUPPLY terminal of the ammeter, thats the one wired to the starter switch (BAT input terminal NOT starter side) where the big battery cable is down from the hot ungrounded battery post.....

The ammeters other LOAD terminal wires to the BAT terminal on a Voltage Regulator or the main output stud on an Alternator PLUSSSSS S feeds hot battery voltage to all loads such as lights and ignition.

Put the alternator or genny output on the LOAD terminal of the ammeter, the same terminal that is wired to the lights or ignition switches to supply them with hot voltage.

If you turn the ignition or lights on tractor not running, the ammeter should swing to - discgharge and then once started if shes charging it will swing over to + charge. If it does the opposite, its wired backwards so simply reverse its leads.

On a neg ground tractor the ignition coils lil - terminal is the one that wires to the distributor while on a Pos ground it would be its + terminal.
