I have a 52 H with a leak around the belly pump drive coupler. The leak is around the part coming from the trans. I got a replacement seal and cant figue out how to get that coupler off of the end to replace it. Does it just turn off the end of the shaft? If so which way do I have to turn it?

I used a piece of 1/2 steel bar about a foot and a half long. Didn't take much to get the coupler loose then it simply screwed off.

I will share with you what others on this forum shared with me. The threads are regular right hand threads. Put the tractor in reverse and lock the brakes. The manuel recommends using a hammer and a brass punch. I tried that. Finally, used a big pipe wrench and two men. Thought we would twist if off, but it finally came off. I ruined the nut. Bought one on ebay. I have a friend whose came off easily with hammer and punch. Hope this helps.

Just did one! I used a square shaft long long screw driver and put it in the slot. It is tight so be ready for skinned knuckles. it is like a regular nut, lefty loosy righty tighty. Then you can get the seal part of the bearing cage off.

That coupler just unscrews lke a regular bolt. Tapping on it with a block of wood and a hammer will probably loosen it.
