I just got done hauling 3 loads that looked exactly like that for a neighbor/customer of mine that has horses,, I got 172 bales on mine,,,, fun aint it???.. I looked at your load and said that looks like my trailer,, but a little different,, and different truck,, I just called my son in to look and he thought the same thing,, who took a picture of our load,, have a good one allan

hey allan, no I sent it down to a spring auction it sold for 1950,,I was hoping for more but I almost got what I had into it,, I got burnt worse on my smaller tractors I sent,,, wish I could have helped you out,, sounds like you have your hands full, have a good one pat

But your missen the best part of putting up IDIOT CUBES , your not stacken them in a old bank barn on a 95 degree day . And when i was a kid i thought that it was fun , i needed my head check over. And to think that we use to RACE to be the first kid at a farm to get hired to put up hay for a buck and hour. Then there was my old boss he realy payed BIG wages when ya worked for him every job had a differant pay scale if ya worked the mow ya got 2.10 and hour if ya were the one unloading a wagon it was 2 if ya stacked in the field it was 2.05 if ya had talant and you were the tractor driver doing the baling ya made 2.15 . But when ya worked for him ya worked hard then the frindges were a old fashion farm dinner at 12 and a farm supper at 5 out at the picnic tabel and back at it till we were done then skinny dippen in the farm pond till when ever . He never had a problem finding help for hayen .

Allen, don't tell me you have been baling hay. And after all that dislike of it. We put up 11,200 bales of it so far this year. Of course over half of it, I just baled and left on the ground. Those horse lovers loaded it themselves. I had 16,000 off the same ground last year.

No, Tom 16,000 is the right number from last spring, I baled 23,000 all together last year. I use to raise a lot of tobacco, but I was clearing more with less expense so I went to baling more hay for sale. I am in Central Ky. We usually have great gobs of hay all around here. I put up all my hay plus lots of hay that folks give me for mowing their place. I also have 200 acres rented just for the hay. Some days we run two balers. A couple years ago when I had a 600 acre farm next door leased I baled 27,000 bales and sold it all except 3500 that I fed myself. I hope to have another 7 to 8000 bales this fall.

I'm basically a one-man hay operation here in s.w.Pa. Baled about 4000 squares and 200 rounds and they all sold mostly to horse customers. Even sold a couple thousand old (stored in barn) bales. Makes me think I'm selling too cheap. $2/ bale. Had a trailer come up from Maryland & one from WV. With fuel & twine prices up, I think this winter it'll be $2.50. What's good horse hay bringing in KY?

Hay prices are holding so far until the hay crop is all in and the prices adjust to the supply.

I had to give $5 a bale for this load of alfalfa. Seller loaded the trailer; I unloaded. :>(

Your giveing it away.I got $4.50 a bale last year.I had a guy come for only 2 bales.I charged him $5.00. When he made a comment about the price I told him with fuel at $3.00 a gal and twine at $28.00 a bale the days of $2.50 hay are gone.
This year fuel is still at 3.00 and twine is $38.00 a bale. I'm going to start asking $6.50 a bale just to see if I get it.Depends on how much they love there horses.

Wolfman, it all depends on the hay and the customer. Most of my hay is grass hay sold to small time horse owners who have to feed the critters. If picked up in the field I get anywhere from 1.75 to 2.50 per bale depending on the type of hay. If I put on their wagon or truck it is another .25. I deliver some for another .50 if it isn't to far off. If they come get it out of my barn it will run from 2.75 to 3.50 per bale. Some folks with good alfalfa get in the 3.50 to 5 dollar range, but I don't have much of that. Good Timothy will also bring that. I use to just roll most of the grass hay, but then I figured out I could get close to 2.00 for it so I bale all I can find now. I would still be baling if I had some more to cut, so I am just waiting on the drought stricken stuff to grow back. It ain't looking good.

2.50 a bale? is you right? i just paid 8.50 a bale, for small square bales out in nm, im figuring right now, i could save 5 bucks a bale, and get 300 on the trailer, but i get 4.3 mpg in my kw, whats the nearest town to you?

We used to have 150-200 acres of alfalfa and it wasn�t unusual to get 2.5 tons per acre on first cutting, 2.0 tpa on 2nd cutting and less on 3rd and 4th. Even with 75-85 lb bales, it doesn�t take long to get to 16000 bales.

When I was a kid at home we fed about 20,000 a year. In 1980 I got my first roller and that is what my cows have been getting ever since, unless I need some of the square bale in emergencies, it is all sold to mostly horse owners. I never seen anything like it. Use to every farm had cows. Now with all the urbanization of the rural areas there are a lot more horses. The next road over is called cream alley, you guessed it. Was dairy farms from one end to the other 25 years ago. Not one milk cow left on the entire road. Milk barns have been torn down and houses one after another have gone up. There is only one dairy operating in the whole county that I know of now.
