i have 1953 super m 264 i just put the engine back together, i was cleaning up the mess on the floor and i found the 1/8 inch pipe tube oil return line that is inside the bottom end , should drop the pan and reinstall any ideas , thank you.

You have broken it off as it is easy to do (or maybe forgot to put it back?). You may never miss it BUT it's purpose is to prevent a froth on the oil. In think I would replace it.

The purpose of the pipe is to return the oil from the filter below the level of the oil to reduce air bubbles. With modern oils that have additives to reduce air bubbles in the oil, you will probably not notice much difference if the tube is there or not.

Run the tractor for a while and then drain some oil from the lower level plug and see if there are bubles in it.

drained the oil and dropped the pan last night , kept thinking about that pipe had to do it, gasket stuck to pan evan get to reuse , thank you for your help.
