Isn't a G more comparable to a W-9 than an M??

It depends on how much money you want to spend after purchasing the tractor. If you're only looking to spend $1000, get a "M" - the engine kits are nearly foolproof & the only machine work that you will absolutely have to do is related to the cyl. head. You can, of course, offset grind the crank & perform other work at extra $$$. For massive HP (not necessarily masive torque) the "M" is a cheaper build-up with the stroker parts readily available. A stout, well-built "G" with the proper cam will pull with a "M" making 20 more HP on sheer torque alone. That being said, I feel that the "G" will be of more value down the road, but you will also pay more to acquire one today. I purchased a running "M" for $1000 and have spent approx. another $1500 (incl. PPG paint, cam, etc. etc.) and will have a 65-70 hp tractor that looks real nice. I could have bought another nice running (not a puller) "G" for $2500 and had to 'freshen' her up & give a new coat of paint - probably $1500. Is the "G" worth $4,000? It probably will be before my "M" is worth anything over $2500 (at least in my part of the country). Bottom Line - Do what will make you the happiest! Good luck :)

both can put out excess of 100hp if you have the funds depends on your local machine guy what he will do for you some times you can buy one cheaper than building it yourself
