Need some input on getting my B cranked after 30 years

Have been trying to get my 40 model B cranked after sitting in the barn for 30 years. The engine was stuck, although not bad. A couple of shots of PB Blaster down the plug holes & it broke loose with the hand crank. I have changed the oil & filter, replaced the points, rotor, Dist. cap, coil cover cap, condenser, & put on new wires & plugs. Also had the carb. rebuilt. when she's turning over, I get a little white smoke from the exhaust. It's firing, but the spark seems awful weak to me. You can barely see the spark when a plug is grounded. Is it possible that the magneto is weak & needs rebuilt? Or am I just flat over looking something here? What should the compression be? I'm thinking maybe the rings are stuck & it doesn't have enough compression to start. I plan on rebuilding the engine, but I kinda wanted to hear it run. Any help you experts may offer will be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance....stumped in Texas

I would pull start your B. Put it in high gear and pull it around until it starts. This will save your battery and the starter. I would also put in the hottest plugs you can get. Hotter the spark your plugs wouldn't foul out from the oil getting by the rings.

I'd work on the spark first. Make sure nothing is grounded or has a loose connection. Probably something simple once you find it...

If the engine was stuck there is a good chance that the rings are stuck also. Might want to let them soak in your magic formula PB Blaster over night. I know that this sounds crazy but Olive oil right from the kitchen does a good job also.

If you still are having trouble there is always starting fluid. I don't like to use it but sometimes there is not much else that works.

OH FREDDY!! don't use any type of vegtable oil in an engine ,even just a little. It will cause Major gumming!Just look up under the stove hood and try to clean that stuff off, If your wife keeps that clean, come over to my house. (I fired "the maid" a couple years ago)hehehe! But seriously, veg oils when heated and then cooled really turn into a sticky form of goo.Even olive oil. Castor oil will even get gummy.I bought a model airplane once from a kid down the road (cheap) that had the engine all gummed up and would barely turn over. It cleaned up ok with coleman fuel but the airplane fuel( has castor oil in it) wouldn't touch it.

Good luck with your B. Man you sure are lucky that it sat inside all that time. Recheck your points gap. I have found that to be touchy. Keep us posted.
