Can anyone tell me what all it would take to convert a 706 LP to gasoline? I need a tractor to move snow with and saw a 706 LP for sale.

Thanks,
Andy

Shame on you! LP is much cleaner and better for our environment also! Our neighbor worked for the MDU (local gas company) and had a natural gas company pickup with 200,000 miles on it - original engine didn't burn a drop of oil. Changed oil every 5000 miles and it was always clean. When an engine runs on a (vapor) gas instead of a liquid gas there is nothing to wash the oil off of the cylinder walls and nothing to get into the crankcase and contaminate the oil.

If I had the $$$ to convert my vehicles to LP or natural gas I would just because they will last over twice as long as anything on a liquid fuel.

I've always thought the best reason to convert any LP tractor to gas is because the LP versions were so UGLY!! Big ugly tank to try to see around.....a pity, the 706 is a good looking tractor in gas or diesel version!! Cmore

I wouldn't think of converting a LP to gas. I have 2 LP tractors and I like them 10x better than gas. I know that LP tractors are far less popular because I see it in prices around East Texas. If you go to West TX, OK, or KS LP is king of the gas tractors. I think that folks just don't really like fueling them. Truth is after you get your equipment together, it is as easy or easier than pouring gas into one. They sure run cleaner than a gas. Also start easier in cold weather. It was 14 here Saturday morning and my LP started like always. If you change the points and plugs every two years and the oil twice a year, LP should last a long time. Just my .02.

Why convert it, if it runs good? We ran an LP SM for LOTS of years with no trouble. Its fuel efficient & really clean running. Changed oil only 2X per year-lighter in winter & heavier in summer-it never got dirty. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Thanks for the info. I have had no experience with LP tractors. I have a 500 gallon tank for the house. Can you use an adapter to fill the tractor from this, or how do you fill the tractor. I guess I should know more before I consider converting it to gasoline.

If your tank feeds the house from the bottom and is accessible, you can put a Tee on it there and a hose with a valve to fill your tractor. If you do not have access to the fitting at the bottom/tank is on the ground, you can wait till your tank is empty this summer and have a wet line and valve installed at the top. Then you will attach a hose with a valve at the end to this and fill the tracot rfrom there. Like the guy in SD said, your local gas man will know if he has been around. The most expensive part is the valve for the hose, All together my rig was about $90 for tank valve, hose and hose valve and all fittings. As for Cmore....LP tractors are not ugly to us all. I guess it is in the eye of the beholder.

If your 500 gal LP tank for the house has a bottom outlet, you can have your gas man put a valve on it & w/proper hose, you can you can fill your LP tractor by gravity any time you want to. We used this method on both a 1,000 we had for the house & 500 gal we used for the hog barn. Talk to your LP supplier-if he's been around for a while, he can give you a lot of info.
