Hi Guys. Let me start by saying these Red colored tractors are foriegn to me but im willing to learn a little about them(im a green fan). One of my friends has been offered a 1947 Farmall H. He donesnt know what its worth so maybe you could help. Before it was parked(about 15 yrs ago) the motor was supposidly redone. After that they did not have much use for it so it was parked in a machine shed. The engine is now stuck. Sheetmetal is great, and it has Pto, lights and electric start. No hydraulics or 3pt. Tires all need replaced. It has two sets of wheel weights on it. What do you think this tractor is worth in this codition, and what do you think it is worth with new paint and tires and the engine running. I am in NE Pa if that makes a difference.

Thanks, Aaron

ps. sorry for the long post

Aaron, your friend was offered this tractor, and you ended up with it for nothing? Nice!

Seems odd that an H would have PTO, elec. start & lights but no hyd. Does it have a wedge shaped cast iron piece sticking below the torque tube between the clutch & rear end? Should have a keyhole shaped hole running clear thru it, and pipe elbows sticking out of each side right behind the clutch housing, and a lever with a rod sticking up and back to the operators platform that ends just beside & below the right headlight... If so, that's the IH Lift-all...setting inside I can't imagine it's stuck too bad... but 15 yrs IS a long time. New tires will run close to $500 installed for all 4. Without the engine running, probably $300-$500 is about all it's worth. Running with New paint & tires it's maybe worth $1200 & up depending on the quality of the work and what all else is done to it.

Were do you get 4 new tires mounted on an H for $500? The last tire a got mounted on my H a Kelly-Springfield cost me $300 then the 2 front tires with tubes cost $100(Firestones) and I mounted those my self. sizes are 12.4-38 and 5.50-16.

Sorry to tell you but I think Denny is pretty close on the tire price. You should be able to get Titans for close to that. You won't get Goodyear or Firestone for that but so what? Three hundred bucks for one rear tire for an H? Ouch!

Aaron I wouldn't offer more than $400 for one in Central Indiana. Pull the sparkplugs and look at the tips. If they are rusty, then water has gotten in there which could mean big bucks. If they are not, you have a fairly good chance of getting it unstuck.
