I am wanting to by a blade for my I-544 for pushing snow, dirt, etc. My rear wheels measure 6'1/2. What size blade should I buy? A 5', 6', 7'?

I do not know how my rear wheel will affect operation, but I am assuming I want it larger them the wheel span, but before i buy the 7' I thought I would ask.

Mine is a Woods RB 700 which they dont make anymore ,,but if you buy a Blade that you can turn manualy it might be fairly easy to make it hydraulic angle,,I know mine was, made 2 brackets from 1 inch plate, one bolts onto circle on top of blade and the other bolts onto hitch part of blade,,The cylinder is mounted between these Brackets, and only had to drill one hole in hitch frame of blade,,then just plumb it up,,REALLY makes it nice when plowing snow Dave

King Kutter only make up to 7' blades. Going with another brand is going to cost some more coin.

That is a really good idea about making your blade hydralic. Do you have any pictures of it you could E-mail me?

There is a lot of difference in back blades depending upon what you want to do with them. The simple type with manual angle etc work fine for plowing snow. Some are heavier than others though which makes a difference in how well they stay down and how long they stay together. Here again depends upon how and how much you use it. I have an old no name that is ok for plowing snow but I also have a JD #80 also old but is a lot heavier and cuts a lot better. Have used the ones that angle hydraulically and even tilt hydraulically. they are nice if you use it to ditch with and if you have the hydraulics but also expensive.

I never thought about an 8' blade. It make sense with the blade angled that that a 7' could be to short. I think I will go with the 8'. Thank you for the advice.

Are any blade manufactures much better then the rest, or is a blade a blade?

I would also suggest a 7 if not an 8, Dave is right about the angle taking away a lot of width when plowing snow. We have a 6 footer for our 300U, and it barely reaches the middle of the back tires when angled correctly. An 8 footer would sure be nice, but just isn't in the budget for us!

HI I have a 7 foot on a 350 U and it works good but sometimes wish I had an 8 footer when plowing snow when the Blade is angled,, because you lose alot of width when blade is angled,, I think on that tractor I would buy an 8 footer Dave
