I asked a few days ago about a 1951 farmall cub with a cracked axle housing. Owner decided to chance making the weld repair without disassembling the axle and wheel gears. Took my time, grooved the crack out after removing the previous weld metal from the prior repair. Used a combination of nickle and non-nickle cast iron electrodes. Pre-heat to 450F and post heat for 2 hours at 400F before starting a two hour slow cool down. Repair looks good and seems to be holding well. Thanks for all the help, just wanted to let you know it's much appreciated.

Good job. My friends won't even let me near a welding rig, which is good for me and for anything I might be attempting to weld. Difficult welds are a real art.
