Farmall Regular Carburetor

I've restored 1940 to 1954 Farmalls, so going to the Regular is a whole new world for me. This is the first of many questions I'll be posting. Thank you in advance for your help.
1. My Regular has the brass carburetor, but it's missing the top adjustment screw. What does this do, and are replacements available? It looks like an idle adjust to me. If an original isn't available, is there a readily available substitute? 2. I'm also missing the valve cover - if I can't get an original, can I use one off an M, etc. just to get me going?
3. Do I need to make engine-to-manifold gaskets, head gaskets, or are they available?
4. What is the torque on the head bolts?
5. Removable engine port covers - will they let me see the condition of the engine well, or do I need to remove the oil pan? I'm concerned about removing the valve head in case there are replacement parts like head gaskets.
6. Mine came with a "Hi-Lo" hydraulic that connects to the back of the tractor (where the PTO would go on an H, for example); is this a rarity, and are there manuals for it?
7. Can I get operator, service, and parts manuals for a Regular?

Hi Jeff, I'll try and answer your questions. 1. The big centet knob, on top of the carburator, is the load adjustment. It is the notched knob, with a wire keeper. The small screw is for idle adj.
2. I'm not sure of this, but probably not. You should be able to get one for a Regular or F-20.
3. Most gaskets are available, and I'll leave some info, at the end.
4. 110-115 ft. lbs.
5. Yes, removing these "hand holes", will allow you to inspect the crankcase.
6. This would be an aftermarket item.
7. Yes, you can get them on this site, and through other venders. Companies, that offer Regular parts are, Rice Equipment Co. E. Main St. Box 267 Clarion, PA 16214 814-226-9200

Question concerning regular carburetor, I saw a guy on RFD TV who had a regular and he said a Briggs and Stratton small engine float would fit in a regular carburetor in the place of the cork float. I made a cork one for mine but I drain it everytime I kill it, I do not want to make another one. Does anyone have any knowledge of the type of briggs engine that has that type of float. Thanks
