I have a student who just completed the overhaul of his grandfather's '49 Cub in our school shop. Some of the wiring had been switched over the years and we are having a hard time helping him correct wiring problems. Local IH dealer was able to provide the generic diagrams from their manuals, but their diagrams show a 3-lug regulator mounted on the top of the magneto. This tractor has a 3 lug cutout relay (I think) on top of the generator. All wiring is original 6 volt and we hope to keep it that way. Light switch is a 4 position switch. Would anyone have a copy of a schematic wiring diagram that you can help us out with? So far the archives haven't been of much help on this model.

Thanks

Punch below, this should be close to what you need. If you have a mag, disregard the portion of the wire going from the negative side of the ampmeter to the coil switch and then the coil.

Many thanks for the fast assistance. I should have mentioned that the Cub has a J-4 magneto. Your wiring diagram link was teriffic. I did print out a copy of both the distributor igntion schematic and the magneto ignition schematic. This looks like it will help us finish this project.

If you hit a snag, email me and I'll walk you through it. My Hs and Ms all have the VR on the generator and the 4 position switch.

I have a 1949 F-cub with a magneto. It has the voltage regulator on the generator. It does not have lights. I believe that the wire from the start/run pull switch should go to the screw on the side of the magneto. Is this right? The regulator has an "L" terminal, a Gen. terminal, and an "F" terminal. What do these conect to? The dash has a push pull switch, a terminalblock, an ammeter and a rotory switch. Help. Help. Please.
