I have a I-544 with a 3 point hitch. The top connection of the 3 point hitch appears to be movable. My Operators manual states it is connect to a bell crank houseing (I cannot remember the exact wording). I have moved all the levers of the tractor and it does not budge.

What make this move? It looks like it should move and has places that need to be greased.

Is this what controls the draft? Quite often the top link is able to float somewhat maybe this is what is allowing it to do so?

My Operators manual did say it had something to do with draft. It is in the all the way down postion now. How dose it control the draft?

the hand lever adjust the pressure it takes to make the draft work. the top link only moves enought to activate the draft control valve in the hydraulic housing. You use this to adjust pulling implements such as plows and disk, to the depth you want and pressure you want to put on the tractor. Your manual should tell you how to set draft for traction and plowing.

I was always of the opinion that 544 had lower link sencing, at least the Farmall model does. I have never been close up on one of these, but literature describes it the same as 656. On the 656 that I had top link was rigid. Old sales literature I have, pictures this the same as 656. Maybe the utility model is different.

If it is top link sencing, none of your controll levers move the top link. The implement moves it and all the lever does is create adjustment of the sensitivity of draft.
