Does anyone know if this tractor has to be split in half in order to put in a new clutch and preasure plate? Clutch seams to slip in higher gears. Any other thoughts?

Gerry, as you have already heard, if the clutch is terminal you need to split it to replace it. Not something I have had to do to mine yet though. But with some good stout oak blocks, some bottle or farm jacks, or a engine hoist, you should be halfway done by now! Post some pics of your "yeller" IH if you can. I was starting to think I had the only living specimen of 2424.

Hey AZ!
You're not alone! I've got a 2424 that I work hard during the summer months. It's very dependable and runs like a charm. Any idea what they're worth nowadays? I haven't a clue. Mike

We have an IH 2424-G as well. Have had problems trying to find information about the origins of this tractor. Can either of you tell me anything about where they were manufactured and/or how many of them were made?

I would first try adjusting the clutch, and then if that doesn't work, you should go ahead and split it.
