I'm trying to install a Woods belly mower on my Super A. The planetary wheel housing has stud bolts for the draw bar and they need to be removed. Any ideas on how to remove them without wrecking them ? I tried double nutting them, no luck! Thanks A R

When I installed the Woods supplied rear housing support that I believe you are talking about, I was able to use the studs already in the housing. I had to turn the bolt holes into slots by opening them out to the edge of the support so it would slide over the studs. It has been on for over a year without a problem.

Thank You! I had the same idea and would like to see it if posible. That would help me a lot as I put a snow plow frame on it for winter.

Screw two nuts onto the studs and jam them together tightly. Use plenty of penetrating oil like liguid wrench or PB blaster where the stud goes into the housing. A couple of these studs are in holes that go all the way through to the outside, use penetrant there too. Then put a wrench on the inside nut and try to break loose the stud. If it does not give, use a few hard blows on the wrench with a hammer. Should come right out.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but are you sure they are studs? How do you get the draw bar on and off? I have a regular A and the draw bar can stay on with the woods belly mower attached, perhaps it would be easier to just leave the drawbar on.

The bolts are on the front of the planetary housing and are used when you put the draw bar on reversed ( used in that application for the 2 bottom plow etc). The rear studs are not effected ( keep the draw bar on). It's the front ones that have to be off, Thanks AR

I don't have a super A but this end of the tractor should be the same.I would try to put a nut on the end of the stud and give it a couple good whacks with a hammer. Then try to turn the stud.Spray it up with penetrating oil before you whack it.Keep repeating the process until the bolt comes out or your arm falls off, which ever comes first. All kidding aside,I have broken many bolts loose this way. When you turn the stud, work it back and forth and don't pull too hard on the wrench.I don't have a torch so most of the time, this is the only way I have to loosen a stubborn bolt or nut.
