Does anyone know the story of why there is a round head bolt thru the bottom between the spindles of the pedistal and was this made by a vendor for IH. also is the H and M pedistal compatable?

the lower bolster is cast iron. the splindles are steel the rivet holds the splindles in the proper place in the lower bolster. the company that cast these for ih is the name you see on the front. i have four '39 m's and they have a different number and the ihc symbol cast in. i don't know when they changd for sure

The bolt or rivet can be removed and spindles replaced as per ITT manual. Never found anyone who knew why bolsters are marked "Beletromal" this might be good question for Guy Fay.

Abdon, the H bolster has a smaller bolt pattern than the M. I suppose someone has modified one to fit the other over the years, but the correct size is readily available. Dick
