Dan! I didnot say they would not start on 5 cylinders. some people on this forum seam to think the 282 was hard to start I don't, but at what temperture are we talking 95 degrees or 20 below. when it is cold it good idea to have all 6.

I agree with you Ace, 560 was not a poor starting tractor, as long as you looked after glow plugs and were not afraid to use them. Too many guys today have that 15 second disease brought on by the Ford and Chevy pickups. They have never heard tell of holding glow plugs in for 3-4 min at 20 below 0 in the wind. Other item on 282 was good batteries and better cables.

I find a lot of these part timers will call, wont start, you go take a look, they have 1 used battery out of John Doe's Freightliner and cables they got at an auto scrap yard. They then have the nerve to say 560 is a poor starting diesel.
