I just found out that Ferro bought Case and New Holland. That means that IH and Ford tractor are now the same family. My Grandfather swore by IH and swore at Ford. He is probable spining at about 500 rmp in is grave right now at news.

What impact if any do you all think this is going to have on getting parts for older IH tractors?

My Case IH dealer has been selling New Holland, too, for perhaps 25 years now, maybe more. Nothing has changed in there, still Case IH bags for this and NH bags for that. Sell both makes of tractors for a while now, too. In truth, my Case IH dealer had merged with New Holland long before the companies themselves did. Oh well. As long as it stays red.

Yep, that merger took place in November, 1999. I've had no problems whatsoever getting parts for my Farmall 100.

That took place a few years ago. Not much has changed around here. Both the ford and ih dealer are more than a hour away.

Will that result in purple tractors when you cross red & blue?

I don't imagine Case/IH/NewHolland/etc is making many of the parts you're buying at your dealer anyway. You're either buying NOS, repro or third party for most stuff.

They may not make all of them, but they still sell most of them -- under the Case/IH or CNH name. In other words most parts are still available from Case/IH. I've spent several hundred dollars at the local dealer the past few months.

I believe the whole works is actually owned by Fiat, but not sure on that one. See the link for the history of CaseNewHolland...

I messed up. It is Fiat. My Case IH parts I am getting for my 544 still say Case IH on them. I did not think they were 3rd party.
