I get upset with all the comments back and forth about how good or how bad various tractors are! My dad used to farm about 600 acres in a nice little valley in Tennessee. We had two John Deere B's and a JD 60. We also had a Super 88 Oliver Diesel, a DC and an LA Case, two 1953 Ford Jubilee's, a Ford 64' 4000, 68' 5000, a Ford Dexta Diesel, and a very nice running 46' M Farmall. In addition to all that, I had two mules that I had to use to cultivate our tobacco fields with! I loved every minute of time that I spent on each one of those old tractors! I can't say that for the mules! Machinery problems, I could always fix, but those dadburn mules needed a 2 X 4 to get their attention! Give me a tractor! I don't care if it is green, red, yellow, orange, blue, or gray! I loved all those old tractors! I only have the M and two of the Fords left! I wish I still had all of them to play with!
Just a tractor loving son of my father!

I agree with you that all of the old iron is just great to be around and work on.

On the other hand, I enjoy giving my cousin a hard time about his JD. This weekend the clutch linkage pin fell out. You should have seen the look on his face while we were looking for the pin when I told him that the pin sure would be easy to see if it was RED!

We had a good laugh over that one. I hope someone else gets a kick out of it, too.

Well put. I am newly-involved in restoring my dad's Super C. I stopped by my Grandfather's old place today (now owned by my retired-farming uncle) to see if an old M was still on the place. It was (Probably hasn't run in thirty years). New potential project. But, before I came across it, I found the old Allis Chalmers WD45 and a CA that I have vivid childhood memories of in the hayfield. The CA was used to cut hay and the WD45 to bale it, in the small, round bales. They were fine tractors, and I really would like to restore them sometime, too. It's amazing how small these machines are, when they seemed like such beasts when I was a little guy. Maybe that makes them all that easier to tame as a big guy!! (With DEAP pockets!!!) Let's just all get along.

I can,t speak for everyone but I think a very high percentage of the people are just having fun with the color wars. I don't like it much either when someone gets right mean and nasty, but I don't see that to often . I'll bet the majority of people on this board would help a neighbor work on his tractor no matter what color.

I agree, the color wars get out of hand. Sadly, I get involved in them too. But there are things to point out in defense of my beloved Farmalls, and I just have to do it.

Trust me, I am Farmall man through and through, but I bought an SC Case the other day and will buy any other brand that comes up for sale at a good price. I just love old iron!

Thanks for putting things back into perspective.

I agree with you, I pay no attention to those "discussions". I respect the time and work it takes to restore any old tractor.
