We're working on a Super "C" and its been completely tuned up and its got a new carburator on it. It will not start in the cold unless its at a dead idol not a hair above and then you have to keep playing with the choke to keep it running. Its being a pain! Any suggestions?

Try checking for leaks around the intake manifold. Spray some WD-40 around each intake port right between the manifold and the head. If it picks up, there's your culprit.

Sorry guys I did'nt mention that it runs like a champ once it gets warmed up but this is a customers tractor and it's reallty tough to get it to stay running long enough to warm up.

Since it runs good when warm, I think I'd richen the fuel a little by openning the idle adjustment about 1/4 to 1/2 turn on the carb.

One other thing to check is the fuel tank cap vent. I had a bad cap once that caused similar problems. Tractor was running fine and just quit and wouldn't restart, even by pulling! Removed the cap and whoosh! Tractor was fine after that, just left the cap loose until I got a new one (it needed to be replaced anyway).

Check the fuel line, and make sure the tank doesn't have sediment in it. Was having a similar problem on an A and it was a blocked fuel line.

Those old tanks can cause more problems than you can imagine. They all should be taken off and cleaned and coated and it would eliminate a lot of problems.
