Hello all. What all sources are there for used front tires for an h with narrow front end. I tried looking through the archives with no luck. What can I expect to pay for them/shipping also. located in south central OK here. Thanks in advance.

Went looking and figure I might as well just buy some new ones to put on it. Didnt want to spend the cash now for them really, but might as well get it over with. Found some firestones at Tractor Supply for 40 bucks. Figure that is as good as I am going to do around here. Tractor was running good 15 or so years ago and motor turns over really easy. I just got to clean some funk out of cylinders that seem to have dropped into them when I was cutting /chiseling off the old muffler so I could remove hood, and then I can rewire it and see if I can get it to fire up. Figure I might can use compressed air to blow funk out spark holes? Also want to buy a cheap set of oil/temp gauges and install so's I dont burn up the motor if something is plugged or not circulating good.

Sounds like it is pretty promising that you will get tractor going. Probably made the right call by getting new tires. Won't have the hassle of messing with used ones in between time. Oil/temp guages either work or they don't. If they work there is no need to replace them. Tractor only has to be run for seconds to see if the oil pressure guage works. 5 or 10 seconds of running shouldn't hurt bearings to bad even if you had no oil pressure. As for the temp guage, you should be able to see if it is working after 5 to 10 minutes of running time. If tractor is at idle, it will take much longer than that for it to overheat. Should be able to see if guage works before tractor overheats. Just make sure the guage needles are to the far left when you start and not stuck in one position halfway up the guage. Then if the guage functions you know that the needles have moved and are not stuck.

You can buy new ones at just about anyplace that sells farm tires. If you are a little hazzy on whether you'll get the tractor going (just want to move it around) then you can probably put just about any old junk 16" tire that holds air on there. The originals had tubes and you might have to go with a tubed tire for it to hold air.

Ray, I was at a wreckers and I saw what looked like a good 600x16 with a few checks on the sides, the tread was as good as new. I brought it home , mounted it and put it on the tractor, as soon as I let the jack down the tube was just about through the side where the checks were. I ended up getting two new tires and tubes and put them on the tractor, now I have one spare. There are lots of 16 inch car and truck tires coming into tire shops as take offs..if you just need tires to move the tractor around you could probably pick out a pair for nothing, most tire dealers like to get rid of them. Ok, thanks guys, I guess I will make the rounds at the dealerships. I mainly just need something to put on the front to move the tractor around right now. It is one I am getting running and really dont need new tires at this time.

I just got a price on the new 550/16 three rib firestones the other day $37 each and the tube were $5 apiece, That's the best price I've found around Tucson. Find a tire dealer who sells lots of tractor tires.

Might try a salvage yard. I have been able to get some front tires that are not too bad for not much money.

Nobody takes tires off the front unless they are totally shot, if they do, they certainly don't trade them in.. if you are short on cash, you can put on any 16 inch tire, they aren't all that expensive new... check your local tire guy..
