I'm looking at a 340 util w/loader. Has TA and power steering. I did a bunch of searching through old posts here so I've got a good idea of what I need to look out for (the steering). My question is, what would the loader be able to lift? I'm looking at 1,000 to 1200 lb round bales, about 3 a month. Not too worried about brute force needed to steer, but I'm more worried about busting the front end down to ground level. Also, thestandard question, whats it worth? I saw a book at the local tractor supply that listed it at around $2000 depending on condition and all. I know it's not in the best of shape, and the owner will give me a good deal, but I need a ball park price. Also comes with fast hitch blade and mower (which I would sell). Thanks for any info you can give.

A 340 should be able to handle your needs, $2000 is a good price for a 340. I have a 340D an its a work horse of our farm, it has a bucket loader and I hve a bush hog, plow, roto tiller, scraper blade which hooks to the two point hitch - I also hve a 55 gallon drum filled with cement to hook on the back when working with heavy loads while using the front loader, this works well. You can take a look at me 340 with the link provide below good luck with it

Thanks for the information. I was thinking of something like $2500 or $3000 with the loader and attachments. Just have to see if I can part with my orange WC. Thats the first tractor that I owned and made run.

$3000.00 would be fair value for a 340U with loader and mower IF the (unit)is in good running condition. The loader needs to have bucket cylinders or it will struggle to handle a bale. Most loaders for this size tractor will have 2500-4000 lb capacity. Watch for tipping forward without rear ballast when lifting a round bale.
