I just bought a 450 Farmall last week and it doesn't have a block heater. I've used it a few times and decided I want to put one on it Becaues it does not warm up really well. I know how to plumb it in, but I was wondering how big a block heater (Watts) you guys would recommend. Thanks

Thanks for the help guys. I looked at the block heater on my M tonight and found out that it was a 1000 watt one so I'll go ahad and put a 1500 watt heater on the 450, so I don't have to wait around as long.

I have a 1000 watt tank heater on my H and it is ready to go in about 1/2 hour in weather down to zero. Below zero it takes about an hour or more, but that's still pretty good.

I recommend 1000, maybe 1500 if you put it on a timer or only plug it in for a short time. The 1000 watt could be left on all night on the 450.

I've got a 1,500W on my H-only takes about an hour to get it warm. If you plan on leaving it plugged in all night, go for a smaller one, but if you plan on plugging it in an hour or two before you use it, go for the biggest one you can get. The big ones will open the stat if its above zero & you leave them on too long. I've never had a problem with mine opening the stat if its below zero. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

500W would be the smallest I'd go. 1000W would be better. Problem with going too big (1500W) is they tend to pop the thermostat open and all Your hot water gets away from You.
